This page is dedicated to archiving past months, remembering the best bits, worst bits and best of all the funny bits.

January 2008

To start with this is the month that MRR were formed,”at 8.45 am on sunday 13th of January 2008 at Adams House, hehe.” (Ben)

We then did our first proper time trial. This was run by VC sevale and was 35 miles from Barnards Green cricket club to Tewkesbury and back. This we did in about 3 hours ,”HUGE puddles to plow through and get big wings of spray going (plus wet feet, shins, and knees at one point)”, (Austin).

Also in January i recieved some free maps from Worcester County Council,Austin (Uncle Wozzer) started his page,i ordered my new bike. We also did a rather fun cycle on the 27th,”We should however of knowen that this path was MAD when after 10 yards we weregoing down what felt like a 50 degree gravel path, Brakes on full trying to stop before hitting some Peds. After the Peds had gone Smatt and Austin rocketed on and where not seen by me until the dias at the bottom. This is because i stopped to wait for Adam who was taking it easy and to warn him to BRAKE. Anyway we rocketed down this path which to start with was clear of Peds. However at one point two had stopped at probably the narrowest bit around and were inspecting a tree. This forced both Add and I to go past half way up a bank, about a foot of the ground, hehe. Anyway after causing a weeks erosing to Brake pads, back rubbers and the path we made it to the dias were we were united with Austin and Smatt who had had a similar experience.”(Ben)

We also decided to hold a open cycle, but more about that next month, lol

February 2008

February started with a disapointment. On the open cycle we recieved loads of interest and emails and had loads of people turn up, all 0 of them. hehe. The ride still went well, ” there we were, hacking accross Castle Morton Common, COWS!! There were cows across the road, not just one or two but about twenty odd, we managed to squeeze through” (Austin)

In the middle of February was my 17th Birthday, whoop whoop, for which i got a new  bike. I got a Giant Yukon which is a real delight to cycle and well worth the money. To celebrate my Bday we went for a cycle on the hills. This was snapped quite literally from plan by one of Add’s gear cables snapping. Due to this we went to halfords got a new cable then spent an hour or so having a laught at Austins house fixing Add’s bike and eating some great cake (made by Austin). While out on my bday cycle we managed to do some filming, thanks to smatt for agreeing to be camera bike dude, and i then made a Vid which can be viewed here!!

Shortly after my bday, the next weekend, we went for a regular weekend cycle and met some other Mountain bikers who we tagged onto. “Here we saw the riders from earlier, who got over the dilemma of getting down the hill by going straight down the side of the aformentioned hill! So, as stupid as we are, followed their lead. I, that is Austin, went first being the most mental with the best bike hacked it down the not-much-off-vertical slope. After some immense speed and being very thankful for my forks, i stopped just pass the Dias and watched my fellow Red Riders preform the same feat. Adam came first, sideways the begin with before straightening up and letting off the brakes came zooming down to stop next to me. Then it was Ben’s turn! He stared off sideways and wobbled slowly down, with all the assembled cyclists yelling “don’t brake!” and “leave off the brakes!”. which he did and came down at considerable speed.”(Austin)

 That was pretty much February.

 March 2008

The month started with me (Benni) finding a post on a blogging aquantaces blog about Mountain Mayhem, this has been discussed for many months, but probably wont be mentioned on this page until the May recap. I also started this page, enought said.

On the 9th Adam, Austin (know knowen as Uncle Wozzer, or Wozzie for short) and i went for a cycle. All day there were weather warning “Monday,A stormy day for much of the UK, with severe gales expected, especially across southern parts of England and Wales. Heavy rain for a time in all areas, hill snow in the north”(bbc weather) Due to this we kept refering to this as the calm before the storm, as the weather was so nice we ended up in Tshirts. However there were some comments. “Austin commented i looked rather funny with my short sleeve t-shirt and bike gloves.”(Benni) These gloves werent Biking gloves as i said at the time, they were full on Winter, out in the snow, gloves. These have know been replace with padded fingerless cycling gloves from that brilliant bike specials shop Halfords. The cycle went well with plenty of fun, even though  ”dropping down a tiny path (literally as big as a tyre) of which i had to convince my two fellow riders that they were NOT going to die!” (Uncle Wozzer). It wa also an eventfull cycle especially when Austin “spotted a Kestrel or possibly a Falcon (not too sure)”.

Also in March i came up with the idea of doing a video, not like our past one (filmed from the handle bars), actually a proper video. So Wozzie and i chatted about the idea.

MORE MARCH SOON, Just going to go watch the apprentice, hehe
